About Me

Hi, I’m Billie!

I am a HHMI Gilliam Fellow and PhD candidate in Dr. Lauren O’Connell’s laboratory at Stanford University. My work focuses on the evolution of family units, and I study this both in the direction of parent-parent coordination and parent-offspring communication.

I believe that science is best when science is available for all. As a Hard-of-Hearing scientist, I owe my persistence and success to those who supported me throughout my education (including my schoolteacher mom!). Outside of research, I co-founded and co-lead a class called BioBUDS - Building Up Developing Scientists, and I do disability advocacy both at Stanford and in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Outside of my science and outreach, I love creating art and building community.
